Medical Report Procedure

By taking part in the Silver Group, each player and his parents are agreeing to accept the primacy of the EPDG. Whilst no matches are played by the EPDG, training programmes, development and monitoring will be provided by us while the player continues to play their Rugby for either club or school as before.

In an ideal world, a Silver group player will play no more than 32 matches in a season and no more than 1 match per week. Although we realise that this isn’t always possible, the long term development of the athlete must be paramount rather than short term gains.

If an athlete does get injured during on of those games or at an EPDG training session, the following procedure should be followed:

  • If injured in a match or training, the player must report the injury to the physiotherapist who is on duty, no matter how small the injury seems.
  • The physiotherapist will assess the injury and discuss the injury with the player and parent to determine the most appropriate treatment.
  • The player may be requested to present to the physiotherapist on duty and the players next training session
  • If the player only realizes he is injured after leaving the match or training venue then he should call the club or EPDG physiotherapist for advice or to arrange treatments
  • If a player injures himself at school or at home then a call to the EPDG manager would be appreciated so that medical treatment can be arranged if appropriate
  • Full time players are covered under the clubs group medical insurance policy
  • Members of our Gold, Silver and School of Rugby groups are not covered and although on site treatment and physiotherapy can be provided on training days, parents may wish to consider a private policy to cover serious injuries
