Scouts & Guides Day huge success

Date: Fri 15 Feb 2013

Last Saturday London Irish welcomed 1,929 Scouting & Guiding members along with their friends & family to the first annual London Irish Scouts and Guides Day!

A great win on the pitch was the cherry on top of a great day out for the scouts and guides, with many of them already looking forward to next year’s event!

There were members from the Scouts, Guides, Beavers, Rainbows, Cubs, Brownies, Explorers and Senior Section from Berkshire, Hampshire and many other surrounding counties.

As an incentive for the day, the sections/units that brought the most people along had access to the activities dome at the Madejski Stadium before the match. This involved activities such as tag rugby, practicing to become new members of the famous London Irish drummers and face painting. The Scouts & Guides were also treated to a Q & A session from Gerrard Ellis and Tom Smallbone, learning what it takes to become a professional player.

At half time, 100 randomly selected Scouting & Guiding members had the chance to welcome the boys back onto the pitch by being a part of the half time Guard of Honour. One Scout member said “Being on the pitch to welcome the teams back on was an awesome experience”. As well as that, we had Scouts from Winchester compete in our half time Kicking competition, with Winchester District Scouts winning the Hampshire/Berkshire battle.

A big thank you to all the Scouts & Guiding members along with their friends & family for attending our first annual London Irish Scouts & Guides Day. We hope that everyone enjoyed the day and we look forward to welcoming even more Scouts & Guides to next season’s London Irish Scouts & Guides Day!
