Alex Gray

London Irish fought off considerable competition to sign Alex Gray from Newcastle Falcons.

The former England U20 Captain is a product of the Newcastle Falcons Academy, the club he joined after he finished his studies at Barnard Castle School.

Alex made 17 appearances last season, including 13 in the Aviva Premiership, scoring one try which came against Gloucester in a thrilling encounter at Kingsholm.

Standing 6'5' and weighing 16 and a half stone, Gray has captained England to Grand Slams at Under 16's, Under 18's and Under 20's level.

in July 2011 Gray led England U20's to second place in the Junior World Championships where they lost narrowly in the final to New Zealand 33-22. Gray started nine of the 10 matches last season for England U20's, coming off the bench in the other game. He scored seven tries in these performances.
